Default Did vitriol contribute to the violence in Arizona? This week's WickedLocal poll.

As Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords remains in critical condition, the media questions whether the divisive rhetoric of some news channels and conservative politicians contributed to the Tucson tragedy on Jan. 8. What do you think?

Do James Carville, Paul Begala and Donna Brazile qualify has conservatives pundits or left wing jackals?

The free lunchers call it divisive rhetoric when hard working individuals shout "Get your hands off my hard earned money".

Why is Congresswoman Giffords the only person mentioned? Is she more important than the other dead or wounded people? Is the Westford Eagle aware that the gunman was apolitical and Insane? Could you tell us what "Media" thinks it was divisive rhetoric and conservative politicians that (magicaly) contributed to the tragedy? Once you Identify them can you tell us how to contact them so we can inform them that they need to go back to journalism school.

To put it in perspective. If the Tuscon Massacre had happened over the border in Mexico, guess what they would have called it?

    Answer: "Saturday"

So all for all, I wouldn't trade this country for any other.

It is truly despicable to hear so many "pundits" try to turn the actions of an unhinged crazy madman to their political advantage, whether to advocate stricter gun laws or to marginalize dissenters.

Lost in the reporting of this horrible crime are, as usual, the facts. Are violent acts against political figures more or less frequent at this time compared to other times in our history? There is an article in the recent "Economist" that would seem to indicate less frequent. Do stricter gun laws deter or encourage violent crime? From the numbers I've seen from Canada, the UK, Australia and other places, it would seem that gun confiscation by governments lead to increases in violent crime.

Hopefully, this crime will not lead to knee-jerk legislation that sounds nice but has bad consequences, but will lead to the death penalty for this evil madman.

I'm with the father of the little girl who died when he said not to use his daughter's death as an excuse for stripping away more freedoms.

Vitriol, wah. Both sides do it, and then bash each other for doing it. It's just part of the little dance they do. Hasn't changed for years, and won't for years to come. Unless it gets legislated away like so many other freedoms because some people would rather ostrich their lives away than look around and really SEE what is happening around them.
