Westford is ranked 5th in level of debt in MA based on the $729/resident amount owed at the end of FY2009.
In quite sure that after we add the monies for the Other Post Employment Benefits (OPEB) unfunded liability of $55,000,000+ ,we should move up. BTW According to documents at US government sites explaining OPEB, Westford should have been taking care of the problem beginning in 2007.
BTW The warrant indicates that the money in the Capital Stabilization fund will be used for operational expenses and that capital items will be bonded. This action should improve our position of 5th in the debt/resident chase.
Why with the ineptness of the BoS, SC, TM, FinCom, Town Moderator and the so called professional management employees, there are no contested races for the May Town elections???
Makes me wonder to the reason that the Finance Director got herself a golden parachute.
BTW Many of the towns ahead of Westford are vacation destination thus the number of year around residents is much lower than would be reflected by the taxable homes.
Bedford is a special situation of DoD education funding for kids of parents that live or work at Hanscom. Big Bucks. Westford gets a couple of bucks from this pot. Lincoln also scores big since they run the Hanscom Middle school.
