Maybe the victim's family preferred it to remain quiet.

Some people knew about this when it happened. Tips were sent to the news orgs but they chose not to follow up on them, except for Mr. Sylvia at Patch.

I believe they also wished it to be reported on, my guess is so that other families who had children who may have been in contact with him would know and have the opportunity to conduct very frank discussions with their children. The victim's name is protected by law, but his should not have been.

After getting an influx of emails since the Patch article ran, the Sun and Eagle finally published coverage today.

Maybe because they posted it on the website yesterday but only gets in print today.
