Thread: Future Medicare Premiums

    Angry Future Medicare Premiums

    The Old Geezers network posted the following

    The per person Medicare insurance premium will increase from the

    present monthly fee of $96.40,

    rising to: $104.20 in 2012;

    $120.20 in 2013;

    And $247.00 in 2014.

    These are provisions incorporated in the ObamaCare legislation , purposely delayed so as not to alert the Old Geezers that they are being thrown under the bus.

    No Social Security Cost of living for the last two years but an increase of over 150% in Medicare Part B Insurance premiums in the next 3 years.

    The so called non-profit hospitals are clamoring for shifting future cost increases for Medicare Part A to the beneficiaries rather than cut back the inflated charges (Like $22 for 2 aspirins) submitted by the non-profits.

    CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN.

    Got news for ya, if the government were allowed to negotiate discounted rates on prescription drugs, you wouldn't be having to pay that increase.

    But when Bush passed his incredibly expensive and new entitlement program of prescription drugs for geezers, the law specifically prohibited this.

    And guess what, BOTH political parties still refuse to remove this provision. Republicans and democrats serve their masters well in Congress. And it ain't the people they serve. Try to figure out who they serve in this example and enjoy you increased payments.

    Not allowing the gov. to negotiate bulk rate prices for prescription drugs shows that Congress serves illegals? Ummmmm.... try again.

    Lobbyists...for whichever corporate interest has the deepest pockets to buy/trade votes. With few exceptions, and not just in this example. It's one area in which many politicians are completely bipartisan.

    LOL! Don't be such a partisan rube. It was Bush's plan for the prescription drugs and his plan prohibits the gov. from negotiating for bulk rates. Both parties have chosen to keep that noxious sell out to the pharmacy industry.

    Ummmmm, if you think the cost of prescription drugs is all that matters here then who is the true country bumpkin? I recall it was the Ds who forced/got it all THEIR way with Mr Os signature legislation Can you dispute either of those 2 points?

    Role reversal

    The estimated $2 trillion for Obamacare is nothing to sneeze at, but less so than an unfunded $7.5 trillion expenditure. Prescription costs are definitely part of the problem, but not all of it by any stretch of the imagination. The entire system needs to be overhauled...by people NOT influenced by insco or pharma lobbies. <--- We all know that will never happen.
